Dear brothers and sisters, I humbly urge you to donate as soon as possible or as Ramadhan is approaching, donate as much as you can during the month of Ramadhan. Why not set up a Direct Debit for the whole of the month of Ramadhan.

Case Studies:

  1. During our last few years we have faced many obstacles with limited resources, equipment, staffing and not to mention the state of the premises and Alhumdulliah throughout the hard times we have managed to overcome most of these obstacles with the will of Allah (swt). We had 2 brothers with many issues that arrived from France with behavioural issues. Initially, we thought they had some sort of SEND. After having assessed them, and working with them to try to understand their mindset and headspace we realised the issues were mainly due to the constant moving and unsettling nature. We then put a series of 1-2-1 interventions and plans in place. To our amazement, the children settled very well from major disruptions to more focused and attentive to class work. This showed that all they required was someone to show them love and belief in them. During Ramadhan, we asked all the students to create and design an Eid card for their parents. Towards the end of Ramadhan, all the students gifted their Eid Cards to their parents. When the mother arrived to pick them up and the children gifted the cards to their mother, the mother was overwhelmed and tears started to flow. When asked she stated that she had never received a card from her children and that the behaviour changes have been amazing since they joined Raedan Institute. This showed the commitment and dedication of all the staff and support from Raedan Institute.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Raedan Institute to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Raedan Institute we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Raedan Institute to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Raedan Institute will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Raedan Institute receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Education has always been held in high regard in Islam and is considered to be a fundamental aspect of a Muslim’s life. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once said, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” This highlights the importance of education not just as a means of personal development, but also as a religious duty.

Sadaqah Jariyah is an Islamic term that refers to ongoing charity, where the benefits of the act continue even after the donor has passed away. By investing in education, Muslims have the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy that will have a positive impact not only in this life, but also in the afterlife.

Promoting education in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah is one of the most rewarding acts of ibadah (worship) that a Muslim can undertake. According to research, students who receive a quality education are more likely to break the cycle of poverty, achieve better health outcomes, and contribute positively to their communities. In fact, a study by UNESCO found that each additional year of schooling can increase a person’s earning potential by 10%.

However, despite the numerous benefits of education, there are still millions of children around the world who lack access to quality education. By supporting organizations and initiatives that are dedicated to promoting education in the Muslim world, we can help ensure that future generations have the opportunity to receive a quality education and realize their full potential.

There are many ways to support education initiatives, including:

  • Donating to organizations that provide scholarships and educational programs for underprivileged children.
  • Supporting schools and educational institutions that are dedicated to promoting a holistic education based on the Quran and Sunnah.
  • Volunteering time and resources to assist with educational programs and initiatives.

By supporting education, we have the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy and make a real difference in the lives of those in need. As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “The best form of charity is to educate someone.”

What does the Quran and Hadith say about the importance of Education in Islam?

“And say, ‘My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'” (20:114)

“Read, in the name of your Lord, who created.” (96:1)

“And whoever acquires a good character, acquires it to his own benefit. And indeed Allah is All-Aware of what you do.” (31:17)

“And say, ‘Work, for Allah will surely see your work, and His Messenger and the believers.'” (9:105)

“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

“The seeking of knowledge is a duty upon every Muslim, male and female.” (Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi)

“The best form of charity is to educate someone.” (Ahmad and At-Tirmidhi)

“One who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer.” (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

These quotes emphasize the importance of seeking knowledge, education, and good character in Islam, and how doing so can bring blessings and rewards both in this life and the next.

What do Muslim Scholars say on the importance of education in Islam:

Imam Al-Ghazali: “The first step in seeking knowledge is to know that you don’t know.”

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf: “The pursuit of knowledge is a sacred duty for every Muslim, male and female.”

Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah: “Education is a process of liberation, and it liberates both the individual and the society.”

Dr. Tariq Ramadan: “Education is not only a right, but also a responsibility. It is not just about acquiring knowledge, but also about becoming a better person.”

Shaykh Abdulaziz ibn Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh: “Seeking knowledge is a path to Paradise, and ignorance is a path to Hellfire.”

These quotes from respected Muslim scholars highlight the crucial role that education plays in the lives of Muslims and emphasize its importance in the development of individuals and societies.
